Up sticks

Friday, June 14, 2019. Daily Brit Wit.

Up Sticks:

Phrase, British informal

Go to live elsewhere.

“In a world of lilac skies
and puffy, lavender clouds
I am travelling too many winding paths
and bleeding out mauve hopes
battling anxiety in the hollow pit of my belly
and lost to the caverns
of my preoccupied mind
enigmatic energy
swirling prints like Warhol
into a lifetime frame
periwinkle laughter
eclipses into jam-toned nights
stars sporadically soothing my soul
as I hug my best friend tight
I suck in violet breath
and breathe out on the air
I wish
I wish
I wish
and realise
perhaps it is time
for me to up sticks
and mosey away from this purplish path
until I’m inside a new colour storm.”
