Friday, May 26, 2017. Daily Brit Wit.

Adjective, informal

Proud; extremely pleased.

“Laughter vibrates the pub, but none matching the group of six crammed in the furthest booth by the loos. They’re co-ed and somewhere between their second and fifth rounds. The attention appears to be on the pretty brunette in the middle on the first bench, if the flushed cheeks from her and the crazed grins from her companions are any indication.

‘It’s about damn time!’ Floats between the group several times and produces chuckles after each utterance. The pretty brunette’s left hand is held aloft as an engagement ring is examined.

The newly engaged young woman basks in her friends’ congratulations. Her eyes, though bright and full of adoration, are on the bloke sitting opposite and catty-corner from her. They grin and he is chuffed, his eyes twinkling with good humour and matching adoration.”
